Friends of Chesapeake Animal Services 

A concerned group of volunteers at Chesapeake Animal Control were anxious about hearing for years how the City had plans on building a new shelter.  This small group of concerned citizens decided that it was time to help the City and started to orchestrate having a Community Fund Raiser to augment the funds needed to build this new shelter.  

We soon discovered that we needed to form a nonprofit in order to accomplish our goals of helping to build a new shelter and continuing a good will plan to help all of the animals that end up there.  SO, not knowing the meaning of "It's hard to start a non-profit" and/or "It can't be done", in July of 2008, "Friends of Chesapeake Animal Services" was founded.
